Adekunle Gold & Davido – Only God Can Save Me

Only God Can Save Me is track 10 on FUJI, Adekunle Gold's sixth studio album, released October 3, 2025 under his independent label Somtin Different and Believe Recordings. Running 2 minutes 43 seconds and classified as Afrobeats on Apple Music, it is one of the album's most talked-about records — built on Fuji-inspired percussion, talking drums and call-and-response harmonies, blended with the contemporary Afropop bounce that has defined Adekunle Gold's sound since his Sade debut. He explained the inspiration directly: it came during a morning walk, after which he reached out to Davido because of their close friendship and shared love of music. The two wrote Davido's verse together in a studio session in Atlanta before the album's release, making the track a genuine creative collaboration rather than a typical guest feature.

Despite the song's title, Only God Can Save Me is not a spiritual record — it's a self-aware anthem about two married superstars acknowledging the pull of constant attention and beautiful women, and the discipline required to stay grounded and loyal through it. The official music video, directed by Perliks and released in February 2026, brings a playful, cinematic edge to those themes, pairing sharp storytelling with vibrant performance scenes. FUJI received an 8.6 from Pulse Nigeria, praise from Afrocritik, Deeds Magazine and Premium Times — and the album stands as Adekunle Gold's most deliberate and culturally rooted work to date, named as an acronym for Finding Uncharted Journeys Inside while simultaneously honouring the Fuji music tradition he grew up around.

Rating: 8.5/10.
