EA Sports has once again merged football and music, unveiling the soundtrack for the 25th edition of EA Football Club. Afrobeats took centre stage this year, with Nigerian stars Rema, Shallipopi and Omah Lay joining a global lineup of artists across 117 tracks. The game launched September 27, 2024.
Rema's hit single Benin Boys featuring Shallipopi, and Omah Lay's chart-topping track Moving, led the Afrobeats representation. It marked Rema's second appearance on an EA Sports soundtrack, following his debut on FIFA 21's VOLTA Football soundtrack with Beamer, alongside fellow Nigerian artists Fireboy DML, Burna Boy, Ms Banks and Nnena. For Shallipopi it was a first EA Sports inclusion, riding the momentum of Benin Boys from Rema's HEIS album, and Omah Lay also made his own EA debut with Moving. UK-based Nigerian artist Obongjayar added further representation with his 2022 hit Tomorrow Man.
The wider soundtrack featured British artist Self Esteem's Big Man with South Africa's Moonchild Sanelly, Gambian-British rapper Pa Salieu's Allergy, and British-Nigerian jazz collective Ezra Collective's God Gave Me Feet for Dancing featuring Yazmin Lacey, alongside acts including Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Coldplay and Disclosure.
