The original Ogechi had already been gaining significant traction on TikTok and Nigerian radio before Davido came on board for the remix. The timing of his addition was notable — it dropped just after his wedding, and Ogechi held personal significance for him and his wife Chioma, which made the collab feel like more than a typical commercial remix.
Hyce, born Favor Ekah Ernest in Lagos in 2001, was the breakout name on the original and he continued to hold his own on the remix alongside the established names. The Ogechi Remix peaked at number one on the Official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 songs chart and the Official Top Radio Songs chart — a remarkable achievement for three relatively upcoming artists even with Davido's name on it. It was also ranked the most searched song lyrics of 2024 in Nigeria by TurnTable, and Hyce spent nine consecutive weeks on their NXT Emerging Top Artists chart. The music video directed by Dammy Twitch dropped July 19, 2024.
