To Serve Nigeria is track 4 on Lil Frosh's debut EP 5 Star, released December 15, 2023. The eight-track project marked Lil Frosh's first formal body of work and Davido coming through on track 4 was a significant co-sign for a debut project. Davido does not come on the record to steal the show — he delivers a verse that elevates the track without overshadowing the artist whose project it is, which is exactly how a guest feature on someone's debut should work.
The theme is patriotic but not in a way that sounds forced. The song urges the youth to stop waiting for politicians to fix things and start contributing themselves. It came out in late 2023, a period when many Nigerians were still processing the aftermath of the February elections and the economic pressure that followed. The timing gave the message weight that a generic inspiration song would not have had.
Lil Frosh had previously made his name through collaborations including Omo Ologo with Zinoleesky. To Serve Nigeria as his Davido collab on a debut EP was a statement of intent about where he was trying to take his career. Rating: 7.5/10.
