Shallipopi Launches Record Label, Plutomania Records, with Two Signees

Shallipopi — real name Crown Uzama — announced the launch of his own record label, Plutomania Records, on October 18, 2023, just over six months after his breakout hit "Elon Musk." The Benin City artist unveiled two debut signees: Zerrydl, a singer-songwriter who also happens to be Shallipopi's younger brother (born Divine Uzama), and Tega Boi Dc, a rapper and producer also from Benin.

The announcement came on the heels of Shallipopi's chart-topping but contentious single "Oscroh (Pepperline)," and arrived while Shallipopi himself was still signed to Dapper Music as an artist — making the move to start his own imprint this early in his career a notable one. Plutomania Records would go on to operate alongside Dapper Music & Entertainment as a distribution partner, releasing collaborative singles from both new signees over the following year, including Tega Boi Dc's "Child's Play" and Zerrydl's "Back to Back," which debuted on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart in 2024.
