Somori is a single from Toye Jay, also known as Akiika, released August 2025 following the audio and visual release of Fileh from his Immortal EP. The official music video, directed by Gorilla Boy and shot in Lagos, arrived in October 2025, expanding the song from a streaming single into a full visual statement built around flamboyance and Lagos street energy. Toye Jay's sound fuses Afro-fusion, amapiano bounce and hardcore rap into something distinct from the more straightforward Afropop dominating Nigerian charts right now.
Somori went on to anchor Toye Jay's larger Somori of Lagos project, which followed with tracks including Ogo and Surrender featuring KIBAR. Surrender, track 11 on that album, told a story of struggle and perseverance, showing Toye Jay's range beyond the flashier, high-spending energy of Somori itself. Between Fileh, Somori, Ogo and Surrender, 2025 was a genuinely prolific year for Toye Jay, building toward a complete album rollout rather than scattered, disconnected singles.
