The Cavemen. are brothers Kingsley Okorie and Benjamin James — a Lagos-based highlife fusion duo who have spent the past six years re-igniting genuine interest in highlife music for a generation that grew up on Afrobeats. They came up in the same year as their debut album Roots in 2020, followed by Love and Highlife in 2021 and No Love In Lagos in 2024. Their most streamed song on Spotify is ADDICTED, a feature they appeared on that has crossed 11 million streams — confirmation that their sound travels beyond their immediate Nigerian audience.
Chameleon arrived in a strong year for the duo. They played a BBC Proms performance and backed J Hus on stage at his historic Royal Albert Hall concert — two of the most prestigious live music settings in the UK. The song itself uses the chameleon metaphor to explore adaptation, change and self-expression. In their own words: "We've always known that highlife is therapeutic, and we want to help the world realise that, especially through this song.
