Shallipopi Ft. Burna Boy – Laho II

Laho II is the remix of Shallipopi's 2025 breakout single Laho, released April 25, 2025 under Plutomania Records and Since '93, featuring Burna Boy. In the Edo language, laho loosely translates to "please don't let me fall" or "don't let me down" — and the original was Shallipopi's inaugural release under his own independent label after a publicised dispute with his former label executive delayed the record's first release in February 2025 before being resolved and re-released in March. That backstory gave the song a defiance that matched its lyrics exactly.

The original Laho peaked at number 5 on the US Billboard Afrobeats Songs chart, went viral on TikTok, and became one of the biggest records of the first half of 2025 in Nigeria. When Burna Boy stepped in for Laho II, the combination took the record to an entirely new level. Burna Boy — Spotify's number one most-streamed Afrobeats artist globally for 2025 — had just performed to over 80,000 people at a sold-out Stade de France in April, the first African artist to do so.

His verse on Laho II dominated club rotation from Benin City to London. Shallipopi's brothers Zerrydl and Famous Pluto appeared in the original music video, and the whole campaign confirmed what Rema's Benin Boys collaboration had already signalled — Shallipopi was no longer a niche act.

Laho II is one of 2025's defining Nigerian records. Rating: 9/10.
