After their heroics in the Wanda Metropolitana last month Chelsea have been brought back down to earth in the Premier League.
A 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid has Antonio Conte’s men set fair for a top two finish and qualification for the knockout stages but three points at home to Roma on Wednesday would hand them a commanding grip on the group.
But Chelsea have struggled to hit the heights they reached in Spain in the Premier League, where they have lost against both leaders Manchester City and bottom side Crystal Palace.
Roma are also unbeaten in their first two games of the group stage but were forced to settle for a 0-0 home draw against Atletico in the opening round of fixtures. And while Chelsea may have been struggling over recent weeks the Gialorossi will travel to London battered and bruised after a 1-0 home defeat to Serie A leaders Napoli.
