Barcelona break off negotiations with Nice over ‘new Xavi’ Jean-Michael Seri as they fail to agree fee

BARCELONA have ended their interest in Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri, according to reports in Spain.
It is the latest setback in a disastrous summer on the transfer front for Barcelona, who appear to have lost their touch when it comes to getting deals over the line.

Marca report negotiations were proceeding until last night before they were broken off as the two clubs failed to agree a fee.
Seri has been likened by many to Xavi and had been a long-term target for the Catalans.
The 26-year-old was instrumental as Nice enjoyed a sensational season in Ligue 1 — finishing third.
Speaking after last night’s defeat to Napoli, he said: “This is not my last game for Nice.
“I will play against Amiens at the weekend.”
The Catalans lost Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record £198million and the only player have signed as a replacement is former Tottenham flop Paulinho.

Barca are struggling to secure deals for Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele — and have suffered another blow in the transfer market.
Angel Di Maria is another top target for the Catalans.
But relationships with PSG are at an all-time low after the bitter Neymar saga.
